Rev. Russell H. Viehmann is a son of Immanuel United Church of Christ. He was baptized, confirmed and ordained from his home congregation. Rev. Viehmann received a B. A. from
Westminster College, Fulton, MO and his Master of Divinity from
Eden Theological Seminary. Upon his ordination in June 1973, he served twelve years on the administrative staff of Eden; first as Recruitment Coordinator, then Coordinator of Recruitment and Public Relations, Director of Admissions and finally Director of Seminary Relations.
In 1985 Rev. Viehmann accepted a new position in higher education at
Saint Louis University where he served as Director of Major Gifts, Director of Planned Giving and finally Associate Vice President of University Development and Alumni Programs.
During this period, he assumed responsibilities as Specialized Minister at Immanuel. In this capacity he has served as interim minister at Ebenezer U.C.C. in Gerald, MO as well as numerous pastor supply positions in the bi-state region, including regular supply work at
Emmaus Homes, Inc.
In April 1996, Rev. Viehmann became Vice President for Development and Alumni Programs at
Webster University. He is involved in planning and execution of a $30 million fundraising campaign. In addition, Rev. Viehmann also serves as the Missouri Conference appointee to the Deaconess Foundation, and serves on the board of the
Alzheimer's Association , Metro Hope, Inc,
Emmaus Homes, Inc. and the Eugene Field House Board of Directors.
At Immanuel Rev. Viehmann's responsibility includes involvement on the conference level and supply (as needed) for preaching and teaching. He is married to Virginia and they have two children: Ann Marie and Kimberly Ellen. In addition to his many community involvements, Rev. Viehmann enjoys gardening, swimming, traveling and reading.
