Whether child or senior adult, virtuoso or beginner, newest member or "old timer", there is a place for you in the music ministry of Immanuel United Church of Christ. We encourage all who have musical interest to come share and grow in the special fellowship that occurs when we, together, "make a joyful noise unto the Lord." (Psalm 98:4)
Immanuel purchased a three-octave set of Whitechapel English handbells in the 1970s and has since added an octave of Schulmerich handbells to complete a four-octave set. In 1997 a three-octave set of Malmark Choir Chimes was purchased and they are used as solo instruments as well as within handbell pieces.
New players are always welcome in our handbell choir, however, some musical knowledge is required if children and/or adults want to participate with the present Crescendo Ringers. The basics of ringing are taught on a periodic basis thereby providing an ongoing group of ringers who can merge into the present choir. If you would like to participate, please contact the for private instruction.
We are currently experiencing a lack of interest in the handbell program and would encourage anyone who is interested in joining us as we provide this ministry, to please contact the Minister of Music or the church office.
MISSION OUTREACH
As time allows, the choirs of Immanuel visit retirement communities and various community events to share their message in music. These visits have been a special blessing to the choir members, as well as their audiences.
